As the name indicates, North Scottsdale is the northern portion of the long but narrow city of Scottsdale, just south and/or east of the towns of Carefree and Cave Creek. This area includes the communities of Grayhawk, DC Ranch, Troon, Desert Highlands, Desert Mountain, and other similar communities. Many of the properties have views of nearby mountains or of the city of Phoenix to the southwest; Many of the communities are gated, several with golf courses. Some areas are zoned for horses, and there are hiking trails closeby, particularly in the McDowell Mountain Preserve. Shcools are split between Paradise Valley and Cave Creek School Districts. Median home values are overall above $750,000.
