Welcome to Goodyear
The city of Goodyear is a suburb west of Phoenix in Maricopa County. Its origins and name result from the Goodyear Tire Company’s purchase of 16,000 acres to grow cotton. In the1940’s Phoenix Goodyear Airport was built, but growth did not increase significantly until the 1990’s. Today’s population is almost 80,000. There have been 22 communities completed and under construction, and another 21 are planned. In 2008 Goodyear won the All-America City Award. The median age of residents is 37.5, the median household income is approximately $30,000, and the median home value is $288,200.
