Welcome to Fountain Hills
Fountain Hills is located in northeastern Maricopa County. It is bordered by the city of Scottsdale, Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, and the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. The president of McCulloch Oil, C.V. Wood developed the town, which is named for the towering fountain at its center, now the fourth highest in the world. Incorporation was in 1989.
The geographic area of Fountain Hills is 18.2 square miles. To the east is the Verde River, a Salt River tributary, and numerous washes run through the community. The McDowell Mountains form a nature preserve with extensive hiking trails northwest and southwest of town.
Growing rapidly in recent years, Fountain Hills today has about 26,000 residents. Over half the adults have associates, bachelors or graduate degree. Median income stands over $80,00 a year, and average household income is greater than $120,000. The median home value is $404,200, and the median list price is $214 per square foot.
