Welcome to Buckeye

The City of Buckeye, the westernmost suburb of Phoenix is located 30 miles west of downtown Phoenix in Maricopa County. The city was founded in 188 and named for the
Buckeye Canal. Today it encompasses 145.8 square miles and includes 30 master-planned communities. A 900-acre lake is planned in the Buckeye Hills Recreation Area, 7 miles south of downtown. Also, the 8,700-acre City of Buckeye Regional Park provides hiking in this mountain preserve in the southern Tank Mountains.
In November of 2017 Bill Gates reportedly bought 24,800 acres between Buckeye and Tonopah for $80 million for the future development of a “smart city.” Over 68,000 people live in the City of Buckeye, with a median age 0 33.7 and a median household income of about $60,000. The median home value is currently $221,700.
