Peoria is a city thirty minutes northwest of downtown Phoenix. It was established in 1886 primarily for agricultural use, and the first four families to settle there were from Peoria, IL. The city incorporated in 1954. The community features 10,000 Lake Pleasant, with two marinas and a wide variety of water sports available. There are about 60 miles of hiking biking, and horseback riding trails nearby as well. Spring baseball training takes place here, and there are two community theaters and an art museum.

Peoria has a population of about 165,00 in an area of 179 square miles. The median age is 41.6 years, and the median household income is approximately $70,000. The median home value is currently estimated at $278,400, with a listing price per square foot of $152.
